SendouQT: Splatoon Dating Service

We reviewed sendou.ink's much anticipated competitive dating feature.

When your whole life revolves around Splatoon, it is a struggle to find partners who properly understand you.

You might have a tournament, or perhaps you are needed as a sub for a scrim. How do you explain the importance of this to a partner who doesn't understand the game and insists on going out on a date, or even just smooching on the couch? You can't.

When there is a patch, or perhaps a new announcement from Nintendo, who would you share the excitement with? Your partner? No, I'm sorry but they don't play Splatoon. And don't get me started on trying to explain a cool overtime knockout in Clam Blitz. It’s just a recipe for disaster.

Relatable? Enter SendouQT.

Are you looking for love, a pickup, or perhaps a bambooty call? Whether solo or in a team, SendouQT has you covered. This new competitive dating service will help you match with other Splatoon players to go on dates with.

It is seamlessly integrated within sendou.ink, the popular Splatoon social network, and has been officially released earlier today.

The service allows you to set your dating pool. You can also choose to search for purely platonic relationships by opting out from romance. If someone is found to make unsolicited romantic or sexual advances during a date, the date will be immediately stopped and the offending player will be assigned a loss.

Dates are Bo7, and map/modes are randomly chosen according to preferences. You gain ranks depending on whether you win or lose the date, but you can swipe anyone regardless of rank. However, it is advised to date similar ranks since that will lead to more balanced dates.

It is possible to see if any date currently in progress is being livestreamed. That means that you can just sit down to watch, and maybe learn a trick or two. The service will also offer a compilation of tips and dating advice sourced from Squid School videos.

There can be spectators on the date if both teams agree to it. Subs are allowed.

Competitive dating has never been easier!

The feature has already proven to be remarkably popular during the closed beta, with virtually every player adding their SendouQT results to their sendou.ink bio, in hopes of making it into top level dating servers.

We asked Sendou what are the next steps for SendouQT. “We have many exciting ideas in the works. Please don’t write this down in the article, but there have been talks with the LUTI team to try and get a LEWDI started.”
